  • Look inside the book

After being away from her home country of Indonesia for almost a decade, Tita Larasati returns to Bandung, with her Dutch husband and two young kids in tow.

As the family adjusts to life in Bandung, Tita also rediscovers her hometown from a fresh perspective.

Comprising little vignettes of her daily musings and adventures—with food, public transport and the unwanted house lizard—this charming graphic diary captures the author's humour and refreshing outlook on life.

  • Tita Larasati was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. She studied at the Faculty of Art & Design, Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB) before moving to the Netherlands in 1998, where she got her PhD. Tita returned to Bandung in 2007, working as a lecturer and researcher at ITB.

During her stay in the Netherlands, she created a graphic diary, or a visual note of her daily life. She co-founded CAB in 2008, an independent publishing company that focuses on graphic diaries, graphic travelogues and children's comics. Through CAB, she published Curhat Tita (2008), Transition (2008), Curhat Tita: Back in Bandung (2008), Seven (2009) and Kidstuff (2010).

She contributed her work "Bloomen Blij, Plukken Wij" to Liquid City Vol. 3 (2014). In 2016, Curhat Tita: Back in Bandung was translated into French as Retour à Bandung (Éditions çà et là, France).
